Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
