Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.
His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a third set.
The opponent rescued four initial break points in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
